Automate developer screening with skills evidence_

Codility Screen replaces manual CV review with a role-based engineering task for each applicant. You set the criteria and decide who advances.

verifiedAssessment engineers design every Codility task, and occupational psychologists review each one.

Today’s failing approach: recruiters review every engineering CV by hand

Challenge 1

Missed engineers

Your recruiters judge engineering ability from the claims in a CV. A recruiter can then reject an engineer who performs well but writes a weak CV.

Challenge 2

Review load

Each application needs a recruiter to read it. The total review time grows with every applicant for the role.

Challenge 3

Different standards

Two recruiters can read the same CV differently. Candidates for the same role are then compared against different standards.

Challenge 4

AI-generated applications

Robert Half research published in 2026 found that 67% of US HR leaders say reviewing AI-generated applications has slowed the hiring process.

Replace manual CV review with skills evidence from a scored task

Codility Screen is a technical assessment platform for the first stage of engineering hiring. Applicants complete a role-based engineering task in a realistic development environment. Your talent team then builds the shortlist from the task results instead of from CV claims.

Invite applicants to a role-based task from your ATS

Codility Screen connects with applicant tracking systems (ATS), including Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workday, SAP and SmartRecruiters. Candidates can enter a Codility assessment through your ATS workflow. Each candidate then completes the task at a time that suits them.

You choose the tasks for the role from 1,300+ validated engineering tasks. The library covers technologies including React, Spring Boot, Kubernetes, Terraform and Spark.

The difference: An engineer with a weak CV can still demonstrate their skills on the task.

Sort applicants by automatically scored task results

Codility automatically scores the output of selected tasks against defined test cases. Codility’s scoring is deterministic, so the same output always earns the same score.

You set the cut score, the minimum task score your team expects for the role. Your team sees the results sorted by score. Automatically scored tasks need no manual marking, which reduces the review time per applicant.

The difference: One standard applies to every applicant for the role.

Review the evidence behind each result before you decide

Codility stores the submitted code and the test-case breakdown with each result, for the period set in your retention policy. Your engineers can open the Code Evolution Chart to see how the candidate built the solution.

Codility can also collect integrity signals, including identity verification and similarity checks. These signals give your reviewers more evidence about how the submission was produced.

The difference: Your team can prove each shortlist decision with a record when someone challenges it.

Questions about automating developer screening

What does it mean to automate developer screening?

Automating developer screening means that software handles the first-stage check that your recruiters would otherwise do by reading CVs. Codility Screen delivers the task, scores the output of selected tasks and stores the results in your ATS. Your team still sets the criteria and decides who advances.

Replace CV review on one engineering role_

Bring an engineering role that your recruiters currently screen by CV. Codility will show you the tasks for that role and how your team would review the scored results.
