Can Your Use Your Organization’s Skills Taxonomy with Codility?
Every organization speaks its own language when it comes to skills. While one company might use “Data Science,” another prefers “Data Analytics” or “Business Analytics.” These differences aren’t just semantic; they reflect unique organizational cultures, talent strategies, and roles that have evolved over time.
Until now, adopting skills intelligence platforms meant either abandoning your carefully crafted skills framework or spending countless hours manually translating between systems. We built our newest feature, Custom Skills Taxonomy, to change that.
What is Custom Skills Taxonomy?
Codility’s new Custom Skills Taxonomy feature empowers organizations to bring their existing skills frameworks directly into our Skills Intelligence platform. No more risk of losing the nuance that defines your organization’s talent landscape.
Here’s how it works: organization administrators can upload their complete skills taxonomy, then map these custom skills to Codility’s Engineering Skills Model (ESM). This creates a bridge that ensures every insight and report inside the Codility platform is aligned with your organization’s skills framework:
- Assessment Creation: When managers create assessments, they’ll see your organization’s skills terminology. Select a skill from your taxonomy, and Codility automatically identifies the most relevant tasks.
- Candidate Insights: Instead of generic skill labels, you’ll see verified competencies and growth areas using the terms your organization uses for career development and performance reviews.
- Team Analytics: All team-level insights reflect your skills framework, making it easier to identify skill gaps and plan development initiatives using terminology that resonates with your leadership team.
Skills Intelligence, Built for Enterprise
We designed this feature with enterprise complexity in mind. Multiple custom skills can map to a single ESM skill, reflecting how organizations often break down broad competencies into specific, role-relevant capabilities. Robust administrative controls ensure only authorized users can modify your skills framework.
For I/O psychologists and talent leaders, this means dramatically reduced implementation time. No more lengthy workshops to translate your skills into our system. Your framework remains intact, but now layered with Codility’s insights.
Organizations can even leverage Codility’s I/O and assessment science expertise during the mapping process, partnering closely with our team to ensure optimal alignment between your custom taxonomy and our evidence-based skills model.
Your Skills Taxonomy + Codility
Our team built this new Custom Skills Taxonomy feature because we recognize that effective skills intelligence needs to enhance your existing organizational ecosystem, not replace it.
